DBDavy Belmans

Freelance software developer

Davy Belmans

I build and maintain web applications, online stores and the servers they run on. From analysis and estimates to code, integration and production – as an independent partner for businesses and digital agencies.

Profile

Web developer since 1997 and self-employed since 2012 – nearly thirty years of experience, from early e-business projects to modern cloud and AI applications. My stack is broad and practical: C#/.NET for custom applications, Umbraco, PHP and WordPress/WooCommerce for websites and online stores, and running the Windows servers it all lives on. I enjoy working where legacy meets modern – stabilising existing systems, migrating them and connecting them to new standards such as Peppol.

My approach is methodical and pragmatic: measure first and find the real cause, then fix it at the source. Refactoring that isn't blocking gets planned in phases, and larger projects are estimated per phase with clear scope agreements.

Core competencies

01 Custom .NET applications

Web applications and back offices in C# (ASP.NET Core and WebForms): service layers, admin interfaces, pricing engines and invoicing logic.

02 Websites & e-commerce

Umbraco and WordPress/WooCommerce: client-managed sites, multilingual setups, custom plugins and templates, and WooCommerce at scale with performance tuning.

03 Integrations & e-invoicing

Connections with ERP systems, payment providers and third-party APIs. Peppol e-invoicing (BIS Billing 3.0, self-billing, UBL).

04 Hosting & infrastructure

Managing shared Windows hosting servers: IIS, mail, DNS, SSL automation, backups and monitoring.

05 Legacy maintenance & migration

Reliably maintaining and extending existing Classic ASP and ASP.NET WebForms applications, also when an upgrade is not (yet) an option. Where desired: migration to modern servers and databases, or a phased rebuild.

06 Analysis & estimation

Technical estimates, architecture proposals and phased quotes – also as the technical partner behind an agency.
